I was on an airplane awaiting take-off. I was in a window seat, on the right side of the aisle. My mother was sitting to my left. The plane wasn't a commercial flight and seemed more like a large charter craft. The interior didn't have lights on...they weren't needed because sunlight streamed in through the windows and lit up the whole cabin. Everyone was excited. Mom was excited and relaxed. No one else looked familiar, but we were all connected, going to the same destination for the same purpose, and very friendly with each other as if we all knew each other. I sensed we were going to the Holy Land, to Israel, and we were expected there.
As for me, the usual anxiety that I experience with flying began to take over. I started to freak out, thinking "I have got to get off this plane in the last few minutes I have before it takes off". I began trying to get out of my seat. My mother said "Where do you think you're going? You can't get off now! You can't stay behind for only God knows what! I'm staying on this plane and I strongly suggest you calm yourself down and stay too." At this point, the realization hit me that what we were leaving behind was a risky, turbulent, & dangerous situation of a collapsed system and civil unrest back home. My focus shifted to outside the window, and I saw chaos outside the airport, crowds of weary, desperate, disheveled people clamoring for a flight out of the country, with groups of rioters wreaking havoc around the edges of the weary crowd. Troopers in riot gear were beginning to use force to control the crowd.
So, I got back in my seat & tried to calm myself. I braced myself for take-off, and the plane began accelerating down the runway. Before I knew it, we were in the air, effortlessly. There was no rough transition where you feel turbulence and your ears pop as the plane inclines upward. It was more like the plane levitated evenly into the sky. Once we were airborne, I relaxed and settled in. I gazed out the window, and the sky was a beautiful, crystal blue, and the sunlight sparkled. The plane was moving so smoothly & quietly through the air, with no turbulence whatsoever. It was as if a large hand was under it, gliding it through the sky. There was no sense of dependency on engines or the control of a pilot. Then I woke up.
