Dream #7 - February 1, 2020: SUDDEN CURRENCY CHANGE

In the dream, it was the beginning of the week when I began seeing headlines in my Google News feed and on the news that the U.S. government and world powers would soon enter the preliminary talks for discontinuing the US Dollar as our national currency, since the dollar was getting weaker and weaker. The way it was reported in the news seemed like it was speculation of something further off in the future, as if it would be a year before any initial steps were taken. However, by that Friday morning, the major headlines were announcing that this change in currency would be effective the upcoming Monday. It was a newly developed currency that was only digital cloud-based, and there would be no material representative of it minted...no coins or bills. Its symbol was something completely foreign and unfamiliar to me in real life. I have no point of reference for it in reality.

This currency was being unveiled in many nations at one time. For most secular people and nominal Christians (in name only), this change wasn't going to affect daily life that much...the money that everyone had in their bank accounts was automatically going to switch to this new currency by Monday, so society generally wasn't that phased by it. All anyone had to do was just go to their banks and take one simple step to get set up to access their converted virtual money by the deadline...something like getting a username & password and downloading a portal app on their phone, and all transactions to purchase our necessities and conveniences- rent/mortgage, car payments, utilities, food, clothing, insurance, expendables- would be carried out on this app. However, there was a subtle "flag" or "tell", either in the currency symbol itself, or in the actual process of getting access to our converted funds, that made it clear to Bible followers that we would be bearing false witness against God by opting into this currency. It was a line of separation. Therefore, every city in the nation had groups of frenzied believers, my mother and myself included, using up their life savings of US dollars before they expire, to buy up shelf-stable foods, water tanks, rain water filters, first aid kits, and paying off big ticket items like vehicles, campers/RVs, farming equipment, solar panels and hardware. This was all between the Friday announcement and the Monday effective date, in preparation to live "off-grid" for the rest of our lives, without engaging in the new system of commerce. I woke up as I was racing down the aisle at Walmart, throwing stuff into my cart.
